A fight of the Ages: Canelo Álavrez vs. Terence Crawford
Share
The biggest fight of the year, and one of the biggest fights of the decade, is just one week away. Saul “Canelo” Álvarez will defend his WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF super middleweight titles against Terence “Bud” Crawford on September 13 in Las Vegas.
A fight of the ages. A clash between two pound-for-pound greats. A battle that will further solidify each of their legacies.
This will be Crawford’s first time competing at 168 pounds, having fought no higher than 154. It’s a huge test, especially against the hard-hitting legend Canelo Álvarez. However, Crawford’s skill and fight IQ help balance the odds. His ability to fight out of both stances at a world-class level keeps opponents uneasy, constantly forced to adapt. His distance management and slick movement are formidable, allowing him to fight comfortably on the back foot or apply calculated pressure moving forward. He never rushes his work, instead choosing his shots with patience and precision.
Canelo, meanwhile, is already an all-time great, a man who has fought everyone and will always be remembered. His pressure, power, and head movement are trademarks fans have come to expect. He is patient and willing to give up early rounds in order to set traps and land decisive shots later. We’ve repeatedly seen him slowly build his opponent’s confidence, only to turn it against them when it matters most.
Two greats meet on the biggest stage on 13th September.
